Surgery & Pain Management
Surgery does involve some risk. All surgery is performed in our modern surgical suite, using strict aseptic technique to ensure the best outcome. Regardless of the complexity of each procedure, we use popular and up-to-date techniques, anesthesia protocols, monitoring tools, and pain management protocols to ensure your pet’s safety and comfort.
Dental care is important to the overall well being of your pet. Comprehensive exams of the entire oral cavity are part of each pet’s examination. If problems are detected, we can discuss the best solution to the problem. Dental cleanings are routine and include general anesthesia, full mouth exam, extractions if necessary, ultrasonic scaling, and polishing. Medications (antibiotic and pain) will be dispensed accordingly.
Our in-house, modern Idexx laboratory is used daily to provide blood counts, routine chemistries, special chemistries (pre-operative), drug monitoring, heartworm, tick disease, feline leukemia, and feline immunodeficiency virus testing. Additionally, we perform routine fecal examination for internal parasites, skin scrapings for mange, and ear and skin cytology for diagnosing problems. We have relationships with several outside labs for additional testing.
In 2016, we added a state-of-the-art Digital X-Ray processor to our clinic. This allows us to utilize the latest software and techniques to keep your pet as safe and comfortable as possible. Telemedicine allows us to obtain the opinion of Board Certified Radiologists if necessary.
Internal Medicine & Pharmacy
Our team uses the latest diagnostic testing, medication, and techniques to ensure that your pet’s internal medicine problems are resolved as quickly and comfortably as possible. If necessary, we have several referral centers with Board Certified Internal Medicine specialists that we can consult with and/or refer to if needed. We maintain a well-stocked, in-house pharmacy of most products we prescribe. The products are routinely checked for expiration dates and quality. We typically offer several medication options to make medicating less stressful for you and your pet. In the event that we need a medication not in stock, we can prescribe to any outside, human pharmacy.
Many groups, such as the AVMA and AAHA, advocate annual or semi-annual examination for wellness. We agree with these recommendations and strive to encourage the examinations. Prevention is better than treatment. In the event that an examination reveals a problem, early detection can lead to a better, quicker, more comfortable resolution.
The USDA Animal/Plant Health Inspection Service (APHIS) requires veterinarians to be federally accredited to write Interstate and International Health Certificates for pet travel. We can help you with all your Health Certificate needs.
We offer microchip implants. This is the only permanent identification available for pets. Implantation involves injecting the chip with your pet’s unique identification number between the shoulder blades. The chips we use are the latest technology, approved for world travel, and linked to Google to help you locate your loved one faster.
Canine Officers & Service Dogs
We are humbled and honored to be chosen by multiple law enforcement organizations to provide preventive care, problem solving, and counseling to some of the finest officers, both canine and human. We also have the honor to care for several types of service dogs. The bond that we see between these human and canine partners is second to none, and it is our distinct pleasure to play even the smallest part in helping maintain that bond!
